ROSEBUD - "ENGLISH STYLE RESORT"
COME AND SEE WHAT ROSEBUD HAS TO OFFER!

Rosebud is 75km from Melbourne G.P.O., or 1 hours easy drive by freeway - located near Portsea, the holiday retreat of the Late Prime Minister Harold Holt.
Originally known as Banksia Point, Rosebud a seaside resort, south-east of Melbourne, was settled in the early 1850's.
On June 2, 1855 the cargo vessel "Rosebud" was washed over the large sandbars on to the beach and Victorians got into the habit of referring to Banksia Point as "Rosebud" after the last vestiges of the wreck disappeared.
The first school started in 1884 in a local shed and moved into a purpose-built premises in 1887 on the corner of Jetty Rd and Pt Nepean Rd. The long pier, an extension of Jetty Rd was built in 1888 and could not be reached by ferries as it did not extend into deep enough water.
Eventually, a road was built around from Dromana, clearing bushland at Anthony's Nose, one of the most picturesque stretches of road you would see in the world, the point where Arthurs Seat meets the sea, half way between Rosebud and Dromana.
In the early 20th Century developers tried to market Rosebud as an English-style resort by creating an estate known today as "The Avenues". The land was offered for sale at 2 pounds ($4.00) a block to try and stimulate investment.
By the 1930's and 1940's, people started camping on the Rosebud Foreshore - a cheap, interesting alternative to guesthouses or hotels. After World War II, it became a popular destination for family's to spend the school holidays and they continue to come and camp on the Foreshore each year from Christmas to Easter.
Rosebud has two first class Shopping Centres, Pt Nepean Rd and McCombe St, servicing the Southern Peninsula, along with 52 Wineries, top class Golf Courses, plus outstanding bay and ocean beaches.
At David Short Real Estate Rosebud, hub of the Southern Peninsula, we believe Rosebud to be the perfect family or retirement destination - Come on down and see what we have to offer! You will love it!!
